“You fell asleep holding my finger again tonight.”
Recorded by mom · eight months old

a·ja·tu/ah-yah-too/
adjective, Estonian
The questions at bedtime, the words they invent, the laugh that fills the kitchen. They change so quickly that they slip away before anyone writes them down. Ajatu keeps them in your family's own voices, and quietly gathers every recording into a capsule of the year.
How it works
Five recordings are all it takes to see a finished capsule, and you don't have to sort through a thing.
Step 01
Ajatu suggests things worth recording.
Step 02
Make it as short or as long as you like.
Step 03
Your recording finds its place in the capsule.
Inside the capsule
Ajatu listens through every recording and organizes it on its own: the laughter, the topics and the family's words each become a chapter of the child's time capsule.
Feedback
Notes from families using Ajatu right now.
“The intro always gets me — I get so sentimental with it.”
“I feel like I'm a granny, ninety-six years old, listening to my child fifty years later.”
The word counter
“At the doctor's they actually ask how many words your child knows. For once I could truly answer.”
A memory of each child
“The more we did with it, the more we came to like it.”
The whole family
“I can ask the rest of the family to contribute too.”
Simple to use
“The app is simple and logical, and the design is lovely.”
The prompts
“…the things I'll want to remember ten years from now.”
The summaries
“I love the quick summaries for every recording.”
Giving the capsules
Every year gets its own capsule, and they gather on a shelf. When you hand the collection to your child, with a beautiful keepsake, is yours to choose.

A starlit-print canvas. Touch it with your phone and the capsule opens.
A capsule is also a beautiful gift for a brand-new family, for a birth or a baby shower.

How Ajatu came about
I'm Madli, a mother of two and a data scientist with a background in psychology.
I used to spend hours writing down memories for my children and sorting through photos, but after my second was born I constantly felt I couldn't keep up.
So I set out to make something that would be a beautiful gift for a child and, at the same time, simple enough that I'd actually keep doing it.

Recordings are stored on servers in the European Union, with a nightly backup to two separate locations, so they survive a lost phone.
There are no ads, and we don't pass your family's data on to anyone.
Recordings aren't used to train AI. Your family's voices stay yours.
From the app's settings, one file with every recording, transcript and summary, in open formats. Free, and not tied to a package, or delete every last bit.
Invite the other parent or a grandparent, and remove anyone, anytime. You hold the keys.
Consent is asked before the first recording.
The capsule belongs to the family. It isn't content for a platform.

If you already write down what your children say, you're halfway there. Ajatu keeps the voice that said them alongside the words, then transcribes everything and gathers it into a capsule that lasts, one you can hand to your child one day.
It's the worry we hear most often. Most of a capsule is your child's voice, and many parents begin by recording only their child. Only the people you invite can open it, and there's no feed and no profiles. And the voice you don't like today is the one your child will most want to hear in twenty years.
That's plenty. Five recordings are enough for a first capsule.
A capsule comes together differently: you only record, Ajatu does the organizing. Five recordings get you started, gentle reminders help you keep going, and a second child gets an equally lovely capsule with no catching up to do.
Recording is the only part you do. Ajatu writes the titles and transcripts, recognizes who is speaking, sorts everything into chapters and puts the capsule together. There is nothing to file, nothing to name, so it never turns into a backlog you feel guilty about.
Your photos stay where they are. Ajatu keeps what pictures miss: voices, and the stories nobody wrote down. A recording takes about half a minute and is processed on its own, and the transcripts make every sentence searchable later.
Yes. Invite the other parent, a grandparent or any relative, and they can add recordings straight away from the mobile or web app.
Yes, you can download your children's entire archive for free. Your memories aren't held hostage.
There is no link to lose. The capsule lives in your account, so you can sign in from any phone or browser, and download the complete archive whenever you like to keep your own copy.
The first time capsule in a family is a gift, free to create. Recording, storing and exporting cost nothing. Capsules after the first are €59 for a year as a single payment, plus €29 for each additional child, or €7 a month as a subscription you can cancel anytime.
See the packagesWe don't promise storage forever. We've promised in writing to give at least twelve months' notice, keep downloads open until the very end, and send every family its full archive before anything is deleted. The safest copy is the one in your hands, and our job is to put it there.
